Heavy Fighting Near Padaung Weapons Factory Triggers Mass Flight
On June 20 and 21, 2026, intense fighting erupted between the Arakan Army (AA) and junta forces near Directorate of Defence Industry (DDI) 16, a junta weapons factory in Padaung Township. Following AA captures of defensive outposts, retaliatory junta drone and airstrikes forced an estimated 1,000 locals to flee into nearby forests.
