Sudanese Military Forces Recapture Strategic Town of Abu Qamra

Sudanese joint military forces, supported by the Sudanese Armed Forces, successfully recaptured the town of Abu Qamra in North Darfur on June 27, 2026. The town, a key logistics hub in the far northwest, had been held by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since late 2025. The day-long battle resulted in heavy losses for the RSF, including the destruction of numerous combat vehicles. The victory provides the SAF with a strategic base to counter RSF movements near the Chadian border.
