U.S. Central Command Launches Airstrikes on 10 Iranian Targets Following Tanker Attack
U.S. Central Command conducted precision airstrikes against 10 Iranian military targets in the Strait of Hormuz, including drone storage sites and coastal radar facilities. The operation was ordered in retaliation for an Iranian drone strike on the Panamanian-flagged tanker M/T Kiku on June 27. The Pentagon stated the strikes were necessary to enforce the fragile Islamabad memorandum of understanding, which Tehran allegedly violated by targeting commercial shipping carrying crude oil.
