Myanmar Junta Launches Retaliatory Airstrikes on Gwa Township Villages
Myanmar military aircraft launched heavy bombing raids on Ye Kyaw village and the town of Kyintali in Gwa Township on June 26, 2026. Local reports indicated that at least six civilians, including three teenagers, sustained serious injuries when 500-pound bombs struck a local monastery and a school. The strikes are viewed as retaliatory measures by the junta following its failure to repel advances by the Arakan Army in the southernmost parts of Myanmar's Rakhine State.
