Taliban Violently Disperse Women's Rights Protests in Herat
Taliban security forces used violent dispersal tactics to break up peaceful women's rights demonstrations in the city of Herat. The protests were organized in defiance of an intensified nationwide crackdown on women's mobility and strict dress codes. The suppression comes exactly as the UN Security Council unanimously extended the mandate for the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
