Lethal Ebola Outbreak Escalates in Conflict-Torn Eastern DRC
Emergency international operations ramped up as the DRC confirmed a dangerous and spreading outbreak of the Bundibugyo Ebola virus strain. Amid the disordered security environment of the ongoing Kivu conflict, reported cases reached 896 confirmed infections and 232 deaths across the remote Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu provinces.
