Sudan Drone Attacks Kill Seventeen Civilians in Darfur and Kordofan Regions
Intensified drone warfare in Sudan resulted in at least seventeen civilian deaths between June 16 and 17, 2026. A strike in Um Baru, North Darfur, killed eight people and forced the local primary healthcare unit to suspend operations due to insecurity. Additional strikes in El Obeid, North Kordofan, killed nine civilians and caused significant damage to critical water and fuel infrastructure. The United Nations warned that both SAF and RSF are increasingly using advanced unmanned systems in civilian-populated areas.
