Wazalendo Armed Group Attacks FARDC Positions in Lubutu
On June 6, fighters from the 'Wazalendo' armed group under the command of Alphani Bukuy breached the Lazaret block in the Nyafanza district of Lubutu. The militants launched a sudden offensive targeting the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), causing widespread panic. The intense exchange of fire forced an estimated 32,090 local residents to flee into surrounding areas in search of safety.
