Khartoum demolitions leave thousands homeless as 'state-sponsored eviction campaign' expands
By mid-June 2026, authorities carried out a state-sponsored eviction and demolition campaign in the El Kadaru area of Khartoum North. Security forces demolished 364 homes belonging to low-income communities and internally displaced persons. This specific operation left approximately 3,000 people homeless and directly stripped them of their shelter and livelihoods. The forced evictions have been condemned as legally flawed and inhumane, driving already vulnerable populations into deeper dependence on aid.
