U.S. Airstrikes Hit Iranian Defense Sites and Infrastructure in Response to Helicopter Downing
U.S. forces launched a series of airstrikes targeting Iranian air defense, ground control stations, radar sites, and infrastructure in southern Iran, including Sirik and Qeshm Island. The strikes were ordered in response to the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz on June 9. The strikes temporarily cut off water to thousands of residents in Sirik.
