Myanmar Junta Forces Conscript Nearly 4,000 Rakhine Residents Over 12-Month Period
A report released on June 10 by the Unlawful Conscription Watch (UCW) reveals that Myanmar's military junta forcibly recruited 3,993 individuals from Rakhine State between May 2025 and May 2026. This figure represents the second-highest conscription rate in the country. Many recruits, including students and factory workers, are reportedly abducted during travel and deployed immediately to active frontlines, leading to high casualty rates and increasing desertions among the 25th batch of conscripts.
