Gang violence forces hundreds of households to flee Saint-Marc
Rising insecurity and violent gang activities have forced more people to flee in Haiti's Artibonite department. The International Organization for Migration reported that on May 29, 2026, more than 1,800 people—comprising over 400 households—were displaced from the commune of Saint-Marc. Fleeing severe armed gang attacks, these displaced families have sought refuge with host communities.
