Junta Airstrikes Target IDP Camps in Rakhine State
Myanmar military junta aircraft launched nighttime airstrikes targeting camps for internally displaced persons across Ramree and Taungup townships on June 1, 2026. Fighter jets dropped heavy bombs on the Kyaung Cha Twin IDP camp, killing two civilians and critically injuring five others. Local media, including Mizzima, reported that the bombardment triggered a fresh wave of secondary displacement of around 500 people into the surrounding jungle.
