US Navy Disables Oil Tanker M/T Marivex in Gulf of Oman Blockade Enforcement
US Central Command forces, operating from the USS Abraham Lincoln, successfully disabled the Palau-flagged oil tanker M/T Marivex in the Gulf of Oman. An F/A-18 Super Hornet fired precision munitions into the vessel's engineering and steering spaces after the crew refused to comply with blockade enforcement orders. The ship was allegedly attempting to transport oil to Iranian ports in violation of current US sanctions. All twenty-four Indian crew members were confirmed safe following the naval intervention.
