Haiti’s displacement crisis entering an even more alarming phase

Renewed, intensive gang violence and armed attacks displaced more than 18,000 people within days in the Cité Soleil neighborhood of Port-au-Prince. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported on June 5 that this new ground offensive pushed the capital's internally displaced population above 300,000 for the first time. Civilians fled to overcrowded spontaneous sites or vulnerable host communities.
