US forces strike Iranian radar sites following drone intercepts in Strait of Hormuz
US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces intercepted and downed four Iranian one-way attack drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz early on June 6. In response, US forces conducted retaliatory strikes against Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island. CENTCOM stated the drones posed an immediate threat to maritime traffic. The exchange occurs amid a fragile ceasefire and ongoing regional instability following the February escalation between the US, Israel, and Iran.
