Militia clashes in Baidoa displace residents
Heavy urban fighting broke out in Baidoa on May 30 when militia forces loyal to ousted Southwest State leader Laftagareen attacked the temporary capital. Somali federal forces repelled the early-morning assault, but the heavy gunfire temporarily displaced around 2,000 local residents caught in the crossfire.
