Global health authorities launched a $518 million, six-month response plan to contain a highly fatal outbreak of the rare Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda [36]. Collapsed healthcare infrastructure from ongoing regional conflict has exacerbated the crisis, bringing confirmed cases to 381 with 62 fatalities in the DRC so far [36, 38].
