M23 Rebels Advance Toward Sake Causing Panic and Flight
A coordinated advance by M23/AFC rebels towards the strategic town of Sake, west of Goma, triggered a sudden wave of displacement. Artillery exchanges between the rebels and FARDC forces prompted local residents to flee toward Goma. About 25,000 individuals were newly displaced by this offensive.
