IRGC Targets U.S.-Linked Vessel Panaya Following Tanker Incident
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a retaliatory missile strike against the U.S.-linked vessel "Panaya" near the Strait of Hormuz on June 2, 2026. The attack followed a U.S. strike on an Iranian tanker that had disregarded blockade warnings. While the Panaya sustained damage to its superstructure, no crew casualties were reported. U.S. Central Command subsequently conducted "self-defense strikes" on an IRGC ground control station and communications tower on Qeshm Island in response.
