U.S. Forces Disable Blockade-Runner M/V Lian Star in Gulf of Oman
U.S. Central Command reported on May 31, 2026, that a U.S. aircraft fired a Hellfire missile into the engine room of the Gambia-flagged vessel Lian Star after it ignored 20 warnings. The vessel was attempting to breach a U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports. CENTCOM stated the ship is no longer transiting to Iran and remains adrift. This is the sixth vessel disabled since the blockade began in April to enforce sanctions.
