Tank movements and bombing force 150 families to flee eastern Khan Younis
Between May 16 and 17, 2026, humanitarian partners on the ground recorded the new displacement of more than 150 families from eastern Khan Younis and eastern Gaza City. The affected families reported that they were forced to flee their shelters because of intensified Israeli tank movements and heavy bombardments. Based on average household sizes, this incident resulted in approximately 1,000 newly displaced individuals.
