CENTCOM Reaches Milestone of 100 Vessels Redirected in Iran Maritime Blockade
U.S. Central Command announced on May 24, 2026, that its forces reached a significant milestone by redirecting 100 commercial vessels since the enforcement of the maritime blockade against Iran began on April 13. Supported by two carrier strike groups and over 200 aircraft, the mission has successfully curtailed trade at Iranian ports. CENTCOM officials reported that while the blockade has imposed severe economic pressure, 26 humanitarian aid vessels have been permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
