Renewed Fighting in Akobo County Displaces 200,000 Civilians in South Sudan
Escalating conflict in Akobo County, Jonglei State, has reached a critical threshold, triggering the mass displacement of approximately 200,000 people. According to the International Rescue Committee, at least 100,000 civilians have fled across the border into Ethiopia to escape the violence. The fighting has resulted in the looting and abandonment of the only functioning hospital in Akobo, pushing the local population toward IPC Phase 5 (Catastrophe) levels of malnutrition.
