Israeli naval units intercepted and raided the Global Simude Flotilla, a humanitarian convoy of 50 vessels attempting to breach the blockade of Gaza on May 20, 2026. Soldiers reportedly opened fire on at least two ships before boarding. Over 400 international activists, including U.S. citizens and Margaret Connelly, sister of the Irish President, were detained.
