SBU Detects Depleted Uranium in Intercepted Russian Missile Debris

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported on May 20 that wreckage from an R-60 air-to-air missile, mounted on a modified Geran-2 drone, contained depleted uranium projectiles. Elevated radiation levels were recorded at the crash site in Chernihiv Oblast. The munitions were likely intended to enhance the armor-piercing capabilities of drone-launched systems against Ukrainian air defense assets. SBU and emergency services secured the warhead and transported it to a dedicated radioactive waste storage facility.
