Imminent Junta Assault on Rihkawdar Triggers Flight to India
Facing an imminent military advance, more than 800 residents of Rihkawdar town in Chin State's Falam District fled across the border into Mizoram, India, in mid-May 2026. The mass flight was triggered by reports that Myanmar junta troops were maneuvering to retake the key border trading post, which had been captured by Chin resistance forces. Burma News International reports that most displaced individuals are temporarily staying with relatives or relying on local organizations for basic shelter.
