Over the weekend of May 16, Israeli military operations caused the displacement of more than 150 families—amounting to approximately 750 individuals—from eastern Khan Younis and eastern Gaza city. According to UN OCHA partners on the ground, affected families reported fleeing their homes due to advancing tank movements and heavy bombing. While some quickly returned, the vast majority required immediate emergency humanitarian assistance, fleeing with only the items they could carry.
