Escalating Violence in Sudan’s Blue Nile State Displaces Over 10,000 People
UN OCHA reported on May 19, 2026, that recent fighting in Blue Nile State has forced more than 6,700 people to flee to neighboring Sennar State. Additionally, approximately 4,000 individuals were displaced within Blue Nile State over the past week due to heightened insecurity between rival factions. Since January 2026, over 50,000 people have been displaced in the region, severely straining humanitarian resources as the rainy season approaches, increasing the risk of cholera outbreaks.
