WHO Declares New Ebola Outbreak in Eastern DRC a Global Emergency
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a severe new Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo a public health emergency of international concern. The outbreak, centered in Ituri province, has resulted in 91 suspected deaths. The virus has now spread to Goma, an area currently controlled by M23 rebels, severely complicating the humanitarian and medical response.
