Rwanda Closes Border as Ebola Outbreak Reaches Rebel-Held Goma
Rwanda has suspended cross-border traffic between the Gisenyi area and the eastern DRC city of Goma after laboratory tests confirmed an Ebola case in the city. Goma, currently under the control of the M23 rebel group, is a regional hub of over one million people. The World Health Organization has declared the outbreak an international public health emergency, as the M23 facilitates contact tracing within its zones of control while military withdrawals continue elsewhere.
