WHO Declares Global Emergency Over Ebola Outbreak in Congo and Uganda
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared a public health emergency of international concern due to an uncontained Ebola outbreak (Bundibugyo strain) which has resulted in over 300 suspected cases and 88 deaths. A confirmed case has now reached the M23-rebel-controlled city of Goma in the DRC, severely complicating containment efforts amid the active armed conflict.
