U.S. CENTCOM Enforces Naval Blockade Against Iran, Redirecting 58 Vessels
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on May 9, 2026, that its naval blockade of Iranian ports remains fully enforced. Since April 13, CENTCOM forces have redirected 58 commercial vessels and disabled four others to prevent them from entering or leaving Iranian territory. The enforcement comes amid a holding pattern in the wider conflict following previous air strikes. Iranian leadership, through the IRGC, has threatened retaliation against American centers in the region if attacks on Iranian tankers continue.
