US Navy F/A-18 Disables Iranian Tanker M/T Hasna in Gulf of Oman
In the first physical enforcement of the current naval blockade, a U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet disabled the Iranian-flagged oil tanker M/T Hasna in the Gulf of Oman on May 7, 2026. The aircraft used 20mm cannon rounds to strike the vessel's rudder after its crew ignored repeated instructions from the USS Mason to turn back toward Iranian ports. CENTCOM reported that 52 vessels have now complied with the blockade, while the M/T Hasna remains adrift awaiting tug assistance.
