KIA Captures Sumprabum Tactical Command Center in Northern Myanmar
The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) launched a simultaneous offensive across Waingmaw and Sumprabum townships on May 4, 2026, successfully capturing the Sumprabum Tactical Command Center. The operation resulted in the seizure of several junta outposts and battalion headquarters. Earlier, on May 3, junta artillery fire near the Chinese border killed three civilians, including a child. The KIA has now captured over 80 junta positions since the beginning of this renewed regional offensive.
