IOM Reports 2,600 Newly Displaced in Sudan's North Kordofan

Worsening insecurity in Sudan's North Kordofan state forced approximately 2,600 civilians to flee the towns of Abu Haraz and Kazgil on May 2-3, 2026. According to a statement from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) issued Sunday, the displaced individuals have sought shelter in the Sheikan district. The new wave of displacement highlights the volatile conditions in central Sudan as the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF enters its third year.
