U.S. Sanctions Former DR Congo President Joseph Kabila
The United States Treasury Department imposed sanctions on former Democratic Republic of the Congo President Joseph Kabila. The US accuses him of providing financial and political support to the M23 rebel group and the Congo River Alliance (AFC) to destabilize the Congolese government. Kabila dismissed the sanctions as politically motivated.
