US Sanctions Former DRC President Joseph Kabila
The U.S. Department of the Treasury imposed sweeping sanctions against former Democratic Republic of the Congo President Joseph Kabila. The OFAC designated Kabila for providing substantial financial and political support to the Rwanda-backed M23 rebel group and the Congo River Alliance (AFC) in an alleged attempt to destabilize the current Kinshasa government and fuel conflict in the eastern DRC.
