Rumors of Rebel Advance Cause Hundreds to Flee Towards Goma
Hundreds of people, primarily women and children, fled towards the city of Goma in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo amid rumors of an M23 rebel advancement. This new displacement adds to the at least 186,000 people who have been displaced since March due to fighting between the Congolese army and M23 fighters. The ongoing conflict has seen the M23 rebels significantly expand the territory under their control in recent weeks.
