Palestinian Authority Hails 'Successful' Local Elections in Gaza and West Bank
Palestinian officials announced on April 26-27 that local elections held in the Gaza community of Deir al-Balah and across the occupied West Bank were a success. The vote in Deir al-Balah was the first in Gaza in over two decades and served as a symbolic pilot for the Palestinian Authority's efforts to reintegrate governance between the territories. While turnout was 23% in Gaza due to displacement, it reached 56% in the West Bank.
