USS Rafael Peralta Intercepts Iranian-Flagged Vessel During Blockade Mission
The United States Central Command confirmed that the guided-missile destroyer USS Rafael Peralta intercepted an Iranian-flagged vessel on April 24, 2026. The ship was stopped while attempting to sail to an Iranian port in violation of a newly enforced maritime blockade. U.S. authorities conducted a boarding and investigation of the vessel. General Dan Caine stated that the U.S. remains postured to enforce the blockade against all commercial vessels transiting to or from Iranian territory.
