Striking Turkish Mine Workers Detained After Launching Hunger Strike
More than 100 mine workers representing the Independent Mine Workers Union launched a hunger strike outside the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry in Ankara. After completing a 9-day march from Eskisehir over unpaid wages and severance from Doruk Mining, the shirtless miners staged a "silent resistance" utilizing their bodies as living banners before being detained by police.
