U.S. Navy Seizes Iranian Cargo Vessel M/V Touska in Gulf of Oman
On April 19, 2026, the U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance (DDG-111) intercepted and seized the Iranian-flagged cargo ship M/V Touska in the Gulf of Oman. After the vessel ignored warnings for six hours, U.S. forces fired on the ship's engine room to disable it. U.S. Marines subsequently boarded and took custody of the vessel, which was allegedly violating a naval blockade on Iranian ports. The incident has significantly escalated regional maritime tensions.
