U.S. Forces Disable Iranian-Flagged Vessel Violating Blockade in Arabian Sea
The U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance intercepted the Iranian-flagged cargo vessel M/V Touska attempting to sail to Bandar Abbas, Iran, in violation of the sweeping U.S. maritime blockade. After the vessel ignored warnings for six hours, the USS Spruance fired 5-inch rounds into its engine room to disable its propulsion. U.S. Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit subsequently boarded and seized the non-compliant vessel.
