U.S. Forces Disable Vessel Attempting to Enter Iranian Port, Violate Blockade
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces operating in the Arabian Sea enforced a naval blockade against the Iranian-flagged cargo vessel M/V Touska, which was attempting to sail to Bandar Abbas. After the vessel ignored warnings over a six-hour period, the guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance fired on the engine room to disable its propulsion. U.S. Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit subsequently boarded and took custody of the vessel.
