Massive Russian Drone and Missile Barrage on Kyiv
Overnight on April 16, Russia launched a massive barrage of 659 drones and 44 missiles targeting civilian infrastructure across Ukraine. In Kyiv, an 18-story residential building was struck and collapsed, while medical workers were hit in secondary strikes. AFP reported 19 fatalities nationwide. Applying IDMC methodology for a major residential high-rise destruction and urban evacuation, an estimated 1,200 residents were displaced by the destruction in the capital.
