FARDC and M23 Rebels Clash in South Kivu Amid Truce Negotiations
The DRC government and M23 rebels agreed to a Joint Truce Verification Mechanism during talks in Switzerland. However, the agreement was immediately undermined as M23 rebels accused the DRC Armed Forces (FARDC) and allied militias of launching combat drone strikes and engaging in direct ground battles in the Kalingi and Rugezi areas of South Kivu.
