Israeli Strikes on Lebanese Bridges Sever Humanitarian Access and Drive Flight
On April 8, 2026, more than 100 Israeli strikes across Lebanon targeted vital infrastructure, including the last functional bridge linking southern Lebanon to the north across the Litani River. Human Rights Watch reported that these strikes, combined with expanded displacement orders reaching 40 kilometers north of the border, forced approximately 42,000 civilians to flee their homes in a single day. The destruction of transport corridors has severely restricted the delivery of emergency aid to those remaining.
