AFC Expansion in Rutshuru Territory Forces Flight to Ugandan Border
The AFC coalition expanded its control in Rutshuru territory, causing 25,000 people to flee toward the Ugandan border. Reports from Radio Okapi indicate that the advance was preceded by threats against local community leaders. The displacement has led to significant crowding at the Bunagana border crossing, where humanitarian agencies are struggling to provide basic assistance. Many of the displaced report that their livestock and food stores were looted during the retreat of government forces.
