Gang Territory Expansion in Pétion-Ville Displaces Thousands in Port-au-Prince
Violent gang coalitions launched a coordinated attack on residential neighborhoods in Pétion-Ville and Delmas. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) tracked the displacement of 14,000 individuals who fled to makeshift sites in schools and churches across the capital. Many of those displaced had been previously uprooted, highlighting the worsening insecurity and lack of state control. The attacks involved widespread arson, forcing families to flee with no belongings, according to Reuters reports.
